Shipwreck Concepcion Spanish Treasure Coin - 8 Reales - Item #10372
This specimen is a genuine Treasure Coin salvaged from the shipwreck of the Spanish Galleon, Nuestra Señora de La Pura y Limpia Concepción, which sank in 1641.
Originally built in 1620 as a merchant vessel, the Concepción was later transformed into a powerful Spanish galleon and served as the Capitana (Flagship) of the La Flota de Nueva España, carrying the wealth of the New World back to Spain. In 1641, after surviving a devastating hurricane, the ship was lost on the Abrojos reefs near Hispaniola with a fortune of silver, gold, and precious cargo.
Lost for more than 300 years, the Concepción's treasures were rediscovered in the 20th century by modern explorers. This coin is not simply a piece of silver-it is a tangible fragment of a legendary voyage and a surviving witness to one of history's most famous shipwrecks.
An authentic Concepción coin in a sterling silver square wire frame with 14K yellow gold prongs and shackle bail. Each mounting is handcrafted in the USA to protect the coin and fit precisely. This artifact is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
